Wait, did you just google “When is college spring break 2025?” before opening this article?

No judgment if you did—we know it’s been on your mind.

In reality, winter term and that long break at home can totally throw you off your groove…

You’ve got your whole routine down at school, and then suddenly, you’re at home, chilling with family and catching up on sleep. It’s hard to keep the same momentum when your environment is so different.

Instead of jumping ahead and anticipating the end of the upcoming term, let’s focus on starting strong with these five tips to get you ready for spring semester 2025:

1. Prepare Your College Dorm Essentials

1 3

Let’s be real, this can take forever! Why not ease some of your worries and get your dorm room essentials sorted out now? Once you check this off your list, that’s already a huge progress for you.

Ask yourself a few questions: What do I really need to feel at home? Have I checked my school’s list of recommended items? Am I bringing enough storage? Do I need to buy new things, replace or repair stuff I already have, or replenish my stock?

If you’re looking for the nitty-gritty, check out the five things you can’t forget to bring to your dorm.

2. Write Down Last Semester’s Wins and Flops

First, think about what aspects of your routine last semester brought you major wins. Was it a note-taking technique you taught yourself? A schedule that you actually managed to stick to? Maybe it was even a random playlist that got you through those late-night study sessions. Whatever they are, take them with you into the new semester.

Now comes the hard part. Reflect on your major flops from last semester. Was it procrastinating on assignments until the last minute? Over-committing to social events and leaving little time for your studies? Whatever those setbacks were, learn from them and leave them behind.

As Leadership Fellow Coach, Kealy Spring says, we learn more from our failures and errors than our successes. So you don’t want to skip or rush through the second part of this tip.

3. Book Your Appointments for the First Few Weeks ASAP!

According to Apptoto, many people get anxious about appointments because they have zero idea what to expect. Unfamiliar places, new procedures, and meeting strangers can freak us out too, but tackling them ASAP will help you feel more at ease and settled into the new semester. And, y’know, not cause another menty b bc of anxiety.

You can meet with an advisor to discuss your course load, sort out a problem with your schedule at the college registrar, or even chat with a financial aid officer about funding options. Whatever you need to deal with, book them ASAP so you can let go of these worries and focus on making this semester your best one yet.

4. Spring Clean Your Bookmarks Folder

This might sound simple, but it really helps get us into spring semester mode!

Follow these steps: Delete the bookmarks folder from the previous semester > create a new one for the current semester > make Google Drive folders for each class > and add those GD folders to your bookmarks folder.

This way, everything will be organized and easy to access when you need it. Don’t let any old clutter weigh you down, girl.

5. Scope Out Your Classroom Locations

Put on your favorite sweats, pop in your earphones, grab your fav drink, and check out your classroom locations before your first day back.

You want to plan your route, especially if you have back-to-back classes in different buildings. Knowing where each class is beforehand will save you from rushing around and feeling stressed on your first week back. Nobody wants to be late for their first class just bc they were in the wrong building yk.

According to Psychology Today, getting comfortable with your surroundings can help keep your stress levels down. So, take the time to familiarize yourself with the campus layout to make your transition into the new semester a lot smoother.

And voilà—a complete mental reset and your ultimate anti-anxiety game plan for spring semester 2025. Good luck!
