Feeling lost and confused about Fall Rush? Got no idea how to strategically navigate sorority events or what to expect?

Well, you're not alone. Fall Rush can be totally chaotic.

There are terms and events that you’re not fully sure you know what they mean and sometimes they can be too much.

But it doesn't always have to be like that. I'll tell you what it is, what to expect, and how to make the most of it.

Here's a quick rundown of what you need to know about Fall Rush 2023:

Dates and Schedule

Fall Rush is basically speed dating but with more sisterhood and less awkward silences. It typically takes place during the first few weeks of the fall semester, so check with your school's Greek Life office to find out the exact dates. Like if you’re from the University of California, here’s the fall sorority recruitment schedule.

Recruitment Events

Sororities will host a variety of events during rush, so you can get to know them and see if they're a vibe for you. These events might include:

  • Open houses - This is your chance to check out the sorority's house and meet the members. Make the most of it by actually engaging and introspecting if you really wanna be a part of the srat house you are actually standing in.
  • Informational sessions - This is where you get to learn more about the sorority's history, values, and programming. Make sure to take down notes. You never know when you’ll need them.
  • Themed parties - They are all about letting loose and having some fun with the sisters. The aim of this is for you to network with everyone and show all the sisters that you are the right fit. But don’t overdo it. Nobody likes those wannabe friendships. Be yourself and you will do just fine.
  • Community service projects - As the name suggests, it's to give back to your community and bond with the sisters over a good cause time.
  • Formal interviews - This is your chance to show the sisters why you're the it girl they're looking for. Keep your answers authentic and make sure to refer to those notes you took during the info sesh on hand.

Registration and Eligibility

Most schools require you to register for Fall Rush through the Greek Life office or a designated online portal. You'll also need to meet certain eligibility criteria, such as a minimum GPA requirement or full-time student status.

But don't worry, if you're total bestie goals and you fit their vibe, you'll probably be eligible. Here’s an inside scoop by Her Campus from an active sister at the University of Alabama to tell you 3 things you wish you knew beforehand about the fall rush.

Sorority Selection Process

During Fall Rush, you'll have the opportunity to visit multiple sorority houses, attend events, and meet current members. Both you and the sororities will be evaluating your compatibility

Towards the end of the rush period, you'll rank your preferred sororities, and they'll extend invitations to join to those they feel are a good fit. So basically, it's Tinder but the stakes are higher!

Bid Day

It’s the day you find out if you got a bid from a sorority. It's a pretty big deal, so expect celebrations, ceremonies, and the opportunity to meet other new members. If you wanna know what fall bid day is all about, tap here!

Financial Obligations

Joining a sorority typically involves financial obligations. These obligations can include initiation fees, chapter dues, housing costs (if applicable), and additional fees for social events, philanthropy, and sorority merch.

It's important for you to have a clear understanding of the financial commitment before joining a sorority. But don't worry, it's not as complex as it sounds.

Values and Expectations

Each sorority has its own set of values, traditions, and expectations for its members. It's crucial to research different sororities, attend their events, and speak with current members to determine which organization aligns with your values and personal goals.

So basically, find a sorority that vibes with you. Studying at the University of Arizona? Here’s how you can join the fall recruitment process

I know that's a lot of info to take in. But don't worry, you've got this! The right sorority for you will find you.

P.S. Here are some tips for surviving Fall Rush (we work with Greek orgs for merch all the time, so we know what it’s all about!)

Be yourself. Don't try to be someone you're not. Sororities want to get to know the real you.

Be prepared. Do your research on the different sororities on your campus. This will help you narrow down your choices and make the most of your time during Fall Rush.

Be confident. Don't be afraid to ask questions or speak up. Remember, sororities want members who are confident and outgoing.

Have fun! Fall Rush is a great opportunity to meet new people and make friends. So relax, enjoy yourself, and let the best sorority for you find you.
